Kousa Dogwood: Lushy When Left Alone

Yesterday I trimmed the Kousa Dogwood.  Why??  (This is not  a photo of my Kousa. My Kousa is now very trimmed. They look much more luscious untrimmed.) So the question remains:  "Why did I trim my Kousa?"
