Puffy Halloween Frosting

Have a few minutes to spare before you get ready to dish out Halloween candy to the kiddies or go to a witchy splash with friends? It will only take a sec to tell you about this devine fluffy frosting. I have no idea what the holiday has to do with the frosting, but patch in a flying witch in the upper right corner and throw a carved pumpkin in the middle, color the spread orange ... and voila ... it's a Hallowe'en ad.  This one boasts that the pack of puffy frosting will "lavishly frost (TYPO! There should be "a") large two-layer cake or up to thirty-eight cup cakes."  (DOUBLE TYPO!! Numbers over 10 are written out [38] and "cup cakes" is a compound word.) Also, why is "Guests" in quotes?  Did something happen to them after eating this stuff? And have you ever "whisked" frosting on a cake?

Candy-Corn Turkey Candy-Cane Mish-Mash Soup

Display at the supermarket. Candy canes?  Seriously????? I'm still trying to figure out my Halloween costume.

Crank it Down

:-\    or    :-|) Curb curmudgeons. Crankiness is infectious ... s o is happiness and good cheer. Instead of using the worn-out phrase "Have a good day," say,  " Have a good-vibe day ." See if spouses/partners/family/friends/colleagues can live up to it.

A Cyber-Club for Misophoniacs

Are you sensitive to noise? Ice crunching, head scratching, pencil tapping, lip smacking? I found a page on Facebook that brings together a cyber-community of people harping on the same note. Tiptoe quietly and check out Misophonia Madness.   Click here.

National No Bra Day: Celebrate Without Restraint

"Dear Mom, Hi. How are you and Dad? Does Patsy [my dog] miss me? Oh, and can you send me a trainer bra? Everyone in my tent wears bras and everyone is making fun of my undershirts. I also think a bra will make it easier for me in sports." Click here  for an uplifting look at National No Bra Day. Ta ta for now!

Left Wing Secrets

Speaking of schools and bells and hallways ... how is it that I still remember my combination from 7th grade? 8-14-31      ( Don't tell anyone. ) My locker was in the west wing of my middle school. Without knowing which was my locker though, I guess I am safe in telling you the combination .

Back-to-School Night Nightmares: They'll Haunt You for a Lifetime

One of the things I absolutely, wholeheartedly, don't miss is Back-to-School Night at my children's high school. The reasons are plentiful: 1. I had no idea where any of the classrooms were and we were being timed to get to them. The hallways were vast. Parents were like mice scrambling in a maze to get to their kid's class before the bell rang so that they wouldn't walk in late for the teacher's presentation. (Kudos to all of those who didn't panic between bells and landed that prized classroom real estate, a desk on the front row.) 2. The ringing bell reminded me of nightmares I've had where I'm late for class (made all the more horrifying that I didn't have my books because they were in my locker and I couldn't remember the combination ... oh, and I forgot to put pants on before going to school.) These haunted dreams stay with you for a lifetime. 3. In play school and elementary school, my children had playdates. I got to know the p...
