"My Stroke in the Fast Lane" - The strength of my mother's hands

These hands.  Every time I look at them, I think about the time they saved my life by veering our car (speeding at 65 mph on Interstate 95) into a guardrail. I celebrate the strength these hands had on that Easter Sunday morning. #motherdaughterlove #stroke #strokesurvivor #mystrokeinthefastlane

And, They're Off!!

My daughter takes a last look at the view from her apartment before she and her husband move to the Windy City. She just graduated from a grueling three-year Residency in Emergency Medicine at Newark-Beth Israel Hospital (in Newark, NJ, and yes, she saw EVERYTHING THERE ... shooting victims, coke addicts, etc.). I'll miss them being 45 minutes away, and offering Max (their Cavapoo-ch) a home when they both had night shifts. The Doctors are Midwest-bound and will continue their devotion to  The Hippocratic Oath and saving lives. (Ahhh, motherhood. The letting go part is never easy.)

Cape Cod Modern House Trust Tour (& The Matching Marimekko Shower Curtain)

More than 110 homes were built in the Modernist tradition on the Cape between 1930-1960. The Cape Cod Modern Trust has a specific mission to lease, renovate, and re-purpose some of these important Modern houses as platforms for creativity and public access. I wore my Marimekko dress for the tour of four houses. It was pointed out that I matched the shower curtain in one of the houses.

"My Stroke in the Fast Lane" now available at BUNCH OF GRAPES BOOKSTORE on Martha's Vineyard

Going to Martha's Vineyard? I'm honored to announce that My Stroke in the Fast Lane is now available at Bunch of Grapes Bookstore in Vineyard Haven. The Vineyard plays a prominent role in my stroke journey. We had a house there for 43 years, and there was so much going on for David & Libby's wedding weekend. A dinner at the house to meet her family, the ceremony and reception at the  Martha's Vineyard Agricultural Society  ... to name a few of the nuptial activities we had long- planned.  And it was in only 8 weeks!   I lived for the mother/groom dance.  Here we are, dancing to "The Way You Look Tonight" .  I was definitely saving my energy for it.  (Notice everyone watching us? What's the phrase? There wasn't a dry eye in the place.) To celebrate my "magnificent life" and spread the joy of a great recovery,  I've lowered the Kindle price of My Stroke in the Fast Lane" to $2.99.  Available in paperback at your favorite bookstore...

Just back from beautiful Cape Cod ...

Here are a few pix of my vacation on Cape Cod. I'll do a round-up in the next few days, but the lighting on the Cape is extraordinary. It has a geometric design and a sense of isolation and loneliness. You can see why Edward Hopper and his wife, Josephine, spent their summers in Truro, Massachusetts.
