COVID Caused by Laughter (By the woman sitting next to me at a Broadway Show)

I swear. It was the woman sitting next to me.

I was at “Purlie Victorious: A Non-Confederate Romp Through the Cotton Patch” on Tuesday. At the appropriate time, and I say appropriate because most of the audience laughed, too, the woman sitting next to me laughed.

Then, in the most inappropriate places, she GARRULOUSLY LAUGHED. Like, when one of the characters named Lutiebelle Gussie Mae said, “I got this at. . .”

HA HA HA!!!!

I thought, “What’s so funny about that?” but then gave in. “Okay. Fine. Maybe she thinks that’s funny.”

Then, it quickly happened again. I looked over at her. The person sitting directly in front of her turned around, too.

HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA!!

The. Woman. Laughed. Throughout. The. ENTIRE. Play.

When I glanced at her again, I saw she was wearing (erroneously, I might add, since we were at a matinée) … bright silver-sequin pants.

Then, the main character, Purlie Victorious, kissed Lutiebelle Gussie Mae.

There was a long silence in the audience. Then,

HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA!!

When the final curtain and applause came, we ran.

And I blame this woman and her hysterical laughter for intruding on my air space at the theatre and giving me COVID.

So, excuse me now as I go and cough my head off.
