"Parenting Adult Children: When To Stop Nagging & Let Them Grow Up" / HUFFINGTON POST

What's your take? Can we say anything about manners and messiness once the children are 20-somethings?

Click here for the link ... and let me know what you think.

So here's what's happening ...

You heard it here, kiddos. Actually, you can now hear it everywhere.
There's a new word trend for sounding casually hip and it is so ..... well, that's it. It is "So."

So here's what I'm going to ask you to do: check out my recent post on HUFFINGTON POST: "Word Trends: So, Like and WhaaaAAAAtt-T?" and weigh in your thoughts.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/bonni-brodnick/word-trends_b_1277780.html

You know when someone mentions yellow Volkswagons? And you start seeing them all over the place? You'll feel this same way with "so." It's the new ubiquitous sentence starter.

Keep it Short

Fashion forecast: Are we finally seeing the end of every single young girl wearing long straight hair? I was just visiting a college campus in upstate New York and many of the young women were wearing short haircuts ... and I'm not talking "bobs." Adorable, chic pixie cuts that look like they might be a harbinger of springtime.

"So, Like, WhaaaaAAAAAT?" / HUFFINGTON POST

With uncanny adroitness, my husband and I bantered in perfect 2012 lingo. And with no Gen Xers or millennials in the vicinity to ridicule my retro-linguistics, I'll tell you (and don't tell the children), it was a totally tubular moment.

Appearance at Pound Ridge Library: "Connecting with Your Community & Its Past"

Thursday, February 16, 12-2 p.m.

Pound Ridge Library

Pound Ridge Library is the hub of our community. Not only is it a resource for studying, research and learning, it is an important gathering place for local events and many town organizations. And along with being an intellectual resource, Pound Ridge Library is a concert and lecture hall, art gallery, bookstore and meeting place for all ages. The library needs our support because it does so much to give Pound Ridge a strong sense of community.

On Thursday, February 16, 12-2 p.m., Louise Paolicelli, Pound Ridge N2N Liaison, will give slide presentation of archival photos which will be proceeded by moi ... as I give a personal look at several Pound Ridge personalities featured in my book, Pound Ridge Past: Remembrances of Our Townsfolk.

Books will be available at the talk. If you'd like to get a leg-up beforehand, Pound Ridge Past is also available at Elm Street Books in New Canaan or at Chubby's in Scotts Corners.

For more information, feel free to drop me a line, give me a ring, send a text, or give a shout-out at poundridgepast@gmail.com.

Permit me to give a shout-out: David Parmet!!

A few months ago I was at a party and started chatting with David Parmet. Along with being charming, he is a PR/marketing/social media/techno-whiz. When I explained some back-door problems I was having with the website for my book (Pound Ridge Past.com), like a great neighbor, David said, "I'd love to help you."

I mean, what's a website if you can't get in the back door and futz with updates re: readings, signings and new places to buy the book? Dinosaur ages. Everything needs a good tweek ... often on a daily basis.

David is available for freelance and consulting gigs on social media, marketing, public relations, product strategizing ... you name it. His techno-savvy saved the day with PoundRidgePast.com and now I'm able to get in through the back, the front, change the font, la-la-la, cha-cha-cha.

David Parmet. P-a-r-m-e-t. Your first step for success is to reach him at david@parmet.net. He'll take the rest from there.

Thank you for all of the wonderful birthday wishes!

What's the phrase? "My Facebook page is flooded over."

Thanks the well wishes from near and far.

HUFFINGTON POST: "Fired Up About Safety"

  • This is a must-read for anyone sending their child to college. We worry more about shopping for the extra-long twin sheets than we do about their safety.

  • Instead, think about
  • fire extinguishers and carbon monoxide alerts.
